Top Photo Shoot Spots in Boston
I don’t know about you, but I absolutely love taking photos and having photos taken of me. Whether it be family photos, mini sessions, or engagement shoots, I always come in with a plan of action to get the most out of my time with the photographer.
Several weeks ago, I had the honor to take my engagement photos on a cold winter day in Boston and I wanted to share that experience with you! Here are the top Boston spots I recommend any time of year to help you plan your next photoshoot:
Cambridge
Cambridge is a gorgeous area a short distance away from the hubbub of downtown Boston. With just the Charles’ River keeping you away, Cambridge is enough outside the city to avoid the chaos of busy streets and too much foot traffic. My favorite spot is parking in front of MIT (free on Sundays) and taking shots along the Charles’ with the Boston city line in the background. If time allows, explore Cambridge, MIT, and the beautiful local art and architecture.
Back Bay
When I think Back Bay, I immediately think Newbury Street, but if I can do anything for your sanity, planning photos on Newbury Street may lead to chaos and frustration due to pedestrians at any given photo angle & let’s not forget the endless traffic to find a prime parking spot during the weekends and evenings. I highly recommend saving the frustration by finding a local garage you can park in throughout the day. My friends like to use Spot Hero to buy an affordable parking space in advance to ensure there will always be a parking spot right when they need it not too far from their final destination. This will allow you the ability to freely walk around without fear of your car getting towed or ticketed (been there, done that). Not to mention, a good parking garage rooftop photo opt never hurt anyone.
Despite Newbury Street being too busy for photos, there are many gorgeous side streets, churches, historical buildings, and photo worthy doorways to make the most of your photoshoot in Back Bay.
Boston Commons & Public Gardens
This may be an obvious one, but the Boston Public Gardens can be a beautiful photo destination any time of year. Just a short walk from Back Bay and no need to move your car, you can find open areas to take memorable photos that remind you of why you love your city. If these spots get too crowded, there are still many great backdrops to take head shots or close ups of your engagement ring.
These are just a few of the many locations you can find for a unique and stunning photoshoot in Boston. Walking around the city, it will never take long to find a great spot to capture the memories. I can’t wait to hear all about your next photoshoot!
Thanks for sticking along for the journey!
